Toledo Kroger Workers Terminate Contract Extension

Negotiations continued this week with three days of hard bargaining. At the end of the day, Kroger continued to insist upon deeper cuts in the Health and Welfare plans. The company wants to roll the dice with the funding of the health and welfare plan--a proposal almost certain to result in future benefit cuts.

Local 911 will not stand by and allow the company to gamble with members' and families health care coverage. The company's refusal to address the needs of the health care plan has prompted the Union to cancel the contract extension that has been in place since April 7th.

Local 911 remains committed to  reaching a fair contract that meets the needs of everyone, but will not put their members future in jeopardy by agreeing to a contract that would bankrupt the health and welfare fund. The Union remains open to meet with Kroger at any time if they are serious about reaching an agreement that secures the future of Local 911 members.
