  March 2, 2007  As contract expiration nears, Southern California workers to hold candlelight vigils UFCW members of Southern California locals have submitted proposals to Albertsons, Ralphs, and Vons, without any real response from the companies. It looks as though the grocery workers' contracts will expire without a new contract in place, on March 5th--so the UFCW members have decided to hold candlelight vigils at various locations as a show of strength and solidarity on the eve of expiration.
