At 5 simultaneous events in 5 Puget Sound cities last Thursday, 150 union members distributed Share the Success yard signs and shared their stories with the press.
Grocery and retail workers across the Puget Sound — joined by workers from Los Angeles and Texas — spoke in one voice, calling on these profitable grocery chains to Share the Success with workers and our communities.
Seattle:
A Public Radio journalist recorded as grocery and retail workers from Texas, Los Angeles and Puget Sound converged on the Queen Anne Safeway, calling on the big national chains to Share the Success with grocery workers across the country.
Bellingham:
Reporters from local radio and the Bellingham Herald witnessed our event at the Albertsons store. Grocery workers drove home the point that a strong grocery contract can benefit our communities by providing sick leave, family-friendly scheduling, and strong middle class jobs.
Mill Creek:
Fred Meyer employees gathered with other grocery and retail workers to hear how hundreds of thousands of workers across the nation are standing together in these contract negotiations.
Bremerton:
Reporters from the Kitsap Sun came to the Safeway store to interview workers about how the issues at the table affect their daily lives, and to photograph workers posting yard signs.
Auburn:
Dozens of union members went door to door in Auburn neighborhoods, distributing signs that show the employer that our communities support grocery workers.
