Montana Workers Aren't Striking Yet

Negotiations between UFCW Locals 4 and 8 and employers Safeway and Supervalu took place April 30th and May 1st, with both Locals are attempting to reach a state wide settlement in Montana.

On Monday both Supervalu/Albertsons and Safeway met with the bargaining committees in a late night negotiation session that continued into the morning of May 1st. "Some progress was made with the employer,  but we still have a ways to go," said Sarah Thody of UFCW Local 8.

The discussions centered around healthcare funding and wages as the Montana Locals look towards gaining back some medical benefits that had to be reduced during the current contract term.
