Dallas UFCW Local
540 Members Unite with Houston Grocery Store Members
Every day the financial news comes out with another rosy
report on Kroger—the company is realizing record profits, increasing market
share, and growing revenues. And how does the company want to reward its
loyal Texas worker? With a kick in the teeth.
The company intends to bankrupt the health and welfare
fund and force employees to choose between paying the rent or family health
care coverage. It’s the same old dirty trick we’ve seen before.
UFCW Members Texas-Wide Are Sticking Together and
Fighting Back.
UFCW Local 540 members from Dallas are joining the fight
with Houston UFCW Local 455 and Local 408 members to stop Kroger from
jeopardizing affordable health care.
Members from Local 540 will take a strike authorization
vote this Friday, and when their contract expires on Sunday, there will be
no extension.
Kroger can continue to play games and offer empty
excuses—or they can get real and settle a fair contract.
Whichever way Kroger wants to play it, UFCW members
across the state will be standing together – one union with one voice –
united in our demand for a contract that protects affordable health care.
It’s time to end Kroger’s dirty tricks.
We are more powerful when we speak together.

Fighting Back
