Houston Set to Take Strike Vote on Wednesday
UFCW Locals 408 and 455 held grocery negotiations last week with the Kroger
company, as both sides continue attempts to come to some understanding on
health care funding and other economic items.
As a result of the employers regressive response to the Union's health
insurance proposals during those talks, both Local Unions have set a strike
authorization vote with their membership for this Wednesday, May 23.
"We can't let the company start playing games around the health and
welfare funding," said Chad Young, Trustee of UFCW Local 408.
UFCW Local 455 President Bill Hopkins agreed, adding, "We are attempting
to negotiate a workable agreement."
