Oregon Negotiations Moving at Slow Pace

Local 555 in Eugene, Oregon met with employers on July 10th for another frustrating round of bargaining.

The union at this time has presented their entire economic and language proposals and the employers are refusing to negotiate over economic issues claiming that their language proposals must be dealt with first.  The bargaining committee made every effort to begin the process of eliminating many of our own proposals but the employers showed no interest in moving the process along. One of the committee members summed it up best when they stated: “it sure is funny that the employers are the last to show up to the negotiations and always the first to leave.”

Prior to the session ending the union asked for additional dates stating that all dates were open with the union moving forward. The employers gave two dates of availability from today through August. The next dates for negotiations will be August 13th and August 28th. The Federal Mediator has been contacted and should be involved in the process moving forward.
