Cincinnati Workers Fight for Good Jobs

Who: Members of UFCW Local 1099 in Cincinnati, Ohio
What: Members are fighting for affordable,
quality health care, a living wage, and a secure retirement for all
workers.
When:
UFCW members of Local 1099 are bargaining with Kroger currently and have voted
to authorize a strike if necessary, given Kroger's unwillingness to agree to a
fair contract with affordable, quality health care for workers. Workers did have
a contract extension with Kroger, but have canceled the contract with four-day
notice to send the message to Kroger to get serious at the bargaining table.
What's At Stake: Good
jobs in Cincinnati and surrounding communities. Grocery workers there
would like to see similar contracts to what Southern California, Houston,
Dallas, Toledo, and Detroit recently won, and they intend to use the power of
unity bargaining , solidarity, and community support to make it happen. Workers
are disappointed that Kroger would extend fair contracts to workers in other
cities, but not to workers in its own hometown.
