Texas Kroger Workers Stand United
Local Unions 455, 408 and 540 met with the Kroger negotiation committee
after lunch on June 10, 2007. In the negotiation Kroger informed the Unions
they had no more movement on Health & Welfare.
The Unions told Kroger that they are available to negotiate if Kroger
wants to reach a contract settlement with all Locals. The Union left the
meeting and is waiting to hear if Kroger would like to continue bargaining
to reach a satisfactory settlement for all parties.
During this session International Vice President and Regional Director
Chad Young notified the Kroger Company that Local 408 is terminating the
contract extension and provided written notice of that intent.
On Friday night June 8, 2007 Local 540 joined Locals 455 and 408 by
voting overwhelmingly to give strike authorization to the Local Union
against the Kroger Company.
The Unions are telling Kroger we want a satisfactory settlement for all
of the Texas union members. We will not settle one unless we all get a
contract.
