When:
UFCW members of Local 555 began negotiations July 16th, 2008 with The New Albertsons, Inc., Fred Meyer, Inc. (Kroger), and Safeway, Inc.

What's At Stake:
 Workers are standing strong together for issues related to the full Maintenance of Benefits for Health and Welfare, scheduling practices that will allow senior workers to access more hours, an article to allow vacation to be taken 1 day at a time if desired, an increase in the pension contribution, a 3-year contract with journeyperson wage increases of $1 per hour for each year of the contract, substantial increases in the progression rates, and a majority sign up agreement.

Negotiations continued September 16, 2008, at 10:15 a.m. between approximately 5200 workers in Grocery, Meat, and Combination Food/Non-Food Checkout (CCK) represented by UFCW Local 555 in Portland and the employers, The New Albertsons, Inc., Fred Meyer, Inc.
