Local 227 Bargaining Begins

The UFCW Local 227 bargaining committee and the Kroger company have been meeting over the past week to negotiate a new contract for the 11,000 Kroger grocery workers represented by Local 227 in Kentucky.

While steady progress has been made concerning contract language and non-economic issues, major hurdles remain in the areas of insurance, wages and pension. Members are standing strong for affordable, quality health care, and wages that pay the bills.

The parties will meet again on March 21st and 22nd, and have dates scheduled for later in the month.
