Spokane Members Join Together to
Send a Message to their Employers
UFCW Local 1439 members in Spokane, Washington packed their local union
hall on March 3 and 4th during negotiations with their employer. The
negotiations are open to members (and members are strongly encouraged to
attend) and those members came to send a message to their
employer--agree to a fair contract for your workers, and share your
success with us.
Members are fighting hard for a three year versus a four year agreement,
hard money increases rather than bonuses, and affordable improvements
to health and welfare. They are also trying to stave off
employer-sponsored proposals that would gut contract language.
At the meetings this week, the union exchanged and discussed language
proposals with the company. They were strongly encouraged by the turnout
of members at the meeting, and encourage even more Local 1439 members to
attend the next meetings.
The next bargaining meetings will be held at the Local 1439 Union Hall,
on March 26 and 27. Please see
www.ufcw1439.org for more information on the meetings and
other details.
