Memphis Members Win Big Victory with New Contract

Local 1529 members in Memphis overwhelmingly voted to ratify a new four year contract with Kroger last week, with 94 percent of the membership voting to ratify.  Members were able to secure the pension fund, and also held firm against any attempt to underfund the health and welfare fund. Not only will it now be adequately funded, but improvements to the health and welfare fund are also included in the contract.

Members will pay a small co-pay for health care, but this will not take effect until 2011.  They also were able to create new lead positions, and secured wage increases across the board.

Thanks to members' solidarity and strength, Kroger workers in Memphis have a contract they can be proud of.
