1776 Members Begin Negotiations with Acme
Local 1776 members are currently in negotiations with their employer, Acme.
During the past weeks there have been several meetings, and Union proposals
have been exchanged and discussed. The Union, after meeting privately and
getting input from the member bargaining committee, has presented the
company with a comprehensive proposal that addresses wages, pension funding,
job security and capital investment for new and expanded store locations,
among other issues.
The company has chosen to provide what it describes as non-economic
proposals at this time. The company’s proposals did not address wages and
benefits in any way whatsoever. The company describes its proposals as
non-economic and wishes to discuss and resolve these issues before
submitting any proposals to the Union on issues such as, wages, pensions and
healthcare.
Currently, a contract extension is in place.
In order to provide members with a complete update on the status of
negotiations, members were recently updated on events at meetings on
February 25. Keep checking the Local 1776 website as well as
www.groceryworkersunited.org for more
information and updates on bargaining.
