Memphis Kroger Workers Moving Closer to an Agreement with Company

Local 1529- Members of UFCW Local 1529 in Memphis are moving closer to an agreement with their employers, but some serious differences still remain to be solved. One of those differences is health care--Kroger still wants workers to pay an unaffordable amount for co-pays, and workers are standing firm for affordable health care. Wage increases are also an issue, but the company and negotiators are moving closer to an agreement in this area.

So far, the solidarity and strength of the UFCW members of Local 1529 has been incredible, and members credit this solidarity with much of the movement at the bargaining table on the company's end. Members continue to stand firm and let Kroger know that they deserve a share of the success, too.

A contract extension is in place for the Kroger employees until January 12th; bargaining is expected to resume around that time.
